Shark Tank India 2 | Flathead: ‘Down, but not out.’ After ‘Shark Tank India 2’ goes downhill, Flatheads founder reveals his 10-year-old wants to be an entrepreneur

The life of an entrepreneur is not easy – from learning to keep the company afloat to convincing investors to fund the start-up. Some might even call it a brutal life until a start-up finds its footing.

Ganesh Balakrishnan, co-founder of Flaheads Shoes, appeared on the fifth episode of ‘Shark Tank India’ Season 2 to raise funds for his startup.

Investors in the reality TV show noticed that Balakrishnan’s startup was struggling. The company’s funding dried up, the co-founder continued to leave Balakrishnan behind, and the venture capitalists on the show pointed out that the start-up’s 4Ps of marketing (product, price, place and promotion) were all wrong.

A funding pitch for a seasoned entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience took an unexpected turn when one of the Sharks reminded him of his responsibilities to his family and ten-year-old daughter.

The IIT-IIM graduate broke down on national television.

Despite what happened on the show, Balakrishnan took to LinkedIn to reveal that his 10-year-old daughter wants to be an entrepreneur.

At the age of 10, Balakrishnan Jr has already started her entrepreneurial journey. She has been busy creating a 2023 calendar with her images and taking pre-orders for the same. His post read: “She is an artist and is taking pre-orders for her 2023 calendar made with her images.

The proud dad went on to say that his daughter adored Lenskart founder Peyush Bansal ‘no nonsense’. He also said that he admires the cheerfulness and positivity of SUGAR Cosmetics founder Vineeta Singh. “She is super proud that I was able to get an offer from both of them,” he wrote in his post.

Balakrishnan said that while he dreaded airing the episode, he was inundated with messages from people praising his entrepreneurial spirit.

“A meltdown on national TV isn’t great for confidence. What I definitely didn’t expect was for the episode to be received the way it was, and it’s very encouraging to see people applauding the entrepreneurial spirit of all startup founders, with me as a proxy,” he wrote. is Balakrishnan.

He also thanked the Sharks for helping him gain some perspective. “My heartfelt thanks to Sharks Anupam Mittal, Aman Gupta, Vineeta Singh, Peyush Bansal and Namit Thapar for helping me gain perspective. And to Sony and Shark Tank India for giving founders like me an opportunity to talk about what entrepreneurship is really like,” he added.

“Most of all, a million thanks to everyone for their support and love.” It takes a bit of effort to process all of this, so please give me some time. I will reply to everyone as soon as I can,” he shared.

Balakrishnan also said that the Flaheads sneaker inventory in India was almost sold out after the show. “We are almost sold out of our inventory in India, so apologies if you can’t find your size at www.flatheads.in.” It would be amazing if you could tell your friends in USA and UAE to try our shoes. In the meantime, if you’re in the US, you can check out Flaheads sneakers on Zappos, and if you’re in the UAE, we’re on Infinite Kart.”

People Group founder Anupam Mittal took to the professional networking platform to wish Balakrishnan good luck and have the whole country rooting for him.

In his touching post, the founder of Shaadi.com said that Balakrishnan taught everyone the power of openness, honesty and acceptance. “I often say ‘entrepreneurship is not a straight line’ and when you look back, the biggest failures are the most rewarding because ‘success builds ego and failure builds character’. I know because I’ve been there … not once but twice … made it big , and then lost everything … Onward and upward,” he said.

Balakrishnan thanked Mittal for making him an offer on the show. “It was sincere and came from the heart, and I was very touched by your gesture. When things don’t go your way, you lose confidence, and I was in a vulnerable state at the time. Your spontaneous offer gave me the confidence to come back strong , even if things aren’t great right now. I’ll always be grateful for that moment,” he concluded.

Despite his struggles, Balakrishnan’s entrepreneurial spirit lives on. His story is the story of every small entrepreneur who fights against the odds to keep his dream alive.
