Toyota got its name today Good price or no dice competing for Centuri to honor founder Sakichi Toyoda’s 100th birthday in 1967. Let’s see how honorable this sedan’s price could be.

Last Friday, I started my day the way I enjoy spending most of my Friday mornings — sipping a cup of coffee and watching the votes roll in for that day’s candidate. Last Friday was particularly interesting because it took exactly nine minutes and 38 votes before anyone supported our 2008 Lincoln Mark LT candidate asking price of $33,000. That one stoic voice remained Lincoln’s only supporter for another 10 minutes and 45 votes before being joined by a compatriot. That, however, was far from enough The Mark LT ends the day with an unstoppable 94 percent without losing dice.

As we discussed on Friday, Ford long ago lost its will on what to do with its luxury brand, Lincoln. It’s not the same the case with many other manufacturers, and when it comes to luxury models, Toyota figured it all out decades ago.

It was 1967 when Toyota introduced its most luxurious car ever, the Century. The model continued in limited production as the company’s flagship model for the domestic market for an incredible 30 years before undergoing a significant refresh.

That long and somewhat unchanging model is why it is today privately imported Toyota Century 1990 it looks like it’s from another era, not the MTV era. As evident in the pictures, the car’s styling bears hints of the early ’70s Corona, rather than anything Toyota made in the ’90s. Generally speaking, it is it looks more like a 1960s Mopar product than anything else. The only traces of its origins are the headlights that were illegal in America in the 1960s and the fender-mounted side mirrors that contrasted were the law in Japan at the time.

The Century’s V8 engine befits its size and stature. The aluminum 4-liter engine was co-developed with Yamaha and by the time this edition hit the streets it had multi-point fuel injection giving it around 190 horsepower. This is supported by a four-speed automatic with column shift. According to the seller, the car only has 65,000 miles under its belt. It is said to have “no leaks or noise”. and in addition, it is claimed to be “It drives like a Cadillac on sedation.”

The interior is also a 70s riot. The cabin features leather upholstery, some wood and brushed metal, and carpet deep enough to lose change. This is a JDM car so the steering wheel wears to the right. That shouldn’t be a problem for rear seat passengers who can enjoy ample legroom and open door openings for step-free entry. There are also heated rear seats and remote controls for both the stereo and automatic climate control.

However, perhaps the best in-car entertainment trick is the ability to fold down the front left seatback, offering lounge-like accommodation for the seat behind. Have you ever put your legs through the car seat to get back in? Yeah, me neither.

According to the ad, there are a few flies in the ointment of this century. Of the greatest attention are problems with the window mechanisms on the front door and peeling paint on the roof. This last question brings up an interesting feature of this car, which is the removable roof section above the seats. It seems too big and unwieldy to be handled by just one chauffeur (or woman). Plus, where would you put it when it’s off? Still, for parades or the occasional opportunity to be worshiped by minorities, it could prove to be an effective vantage point.

The car is being advertised in Reno Nevada and the seller is warning interested parties in neighboring California that this car cannot be registered there without serious (read expensive) modifications to comply with the state’s emissions requirements.

For everyone else, however, this could be a fantastic ride and a magnet for any car meeting, royal outing, or Dollar Tree shopping trek. For that to happen, the seller is asking $7,500.
