Madison Brooks Breaking News: Student Rape Suspect ‘Laughing Goofy’ In Video As Bar Closes

Louisiana nursing student Madison Brooks was fatally struck by a car after an alleged rape

Four men have been arrested for allegedly raping a Louisiana State University student before abandoning her in a dark alley, where she was struck and killed by a carpool.

Madison Brooks, a 19-year-old Alpha Phi sorority sister, spent the night of Jan. 14 at Reggie’s Bar in Baton Rouge where she allegedly met her attackers.

Investigators said Brooks was then sexually assaulted by four men in a car before they left her on the side of the road in the early hours of January 15. The driver then hit the 19-year-old and she died a few hours later in hospital.

Kaivon Deondre Washington, 18, and a 17-year-old boy, whose age has not been released, are charged with third-degree rape.

Washington’s uncle, Everett Lee, 28, and Kaysen Carver, 18, were charged with rape – and have since been released.

A lawyer for the two suspects claimed to local outlet KSLA that the video of the alleged sexual assault proves they are innocent and that the deceased 19-year-old consented. However, at Tuesday’s hearing, the judge said the video – along with other evidence – actually proved the crime had taken place.

The judge says the video, which is meant to eliminate the suspects, does the opposite

A video that four men hoped would clear them of raping a Louisiana State University (LSU) student instead proved the crime actually happened, according to a judge — hours after a lawyer for the two suspects claimed it showed the late 19-year-old agreed to have sex.

Rachel Sharp reports on what was pronounced in court.

The video shows the suspects laughing ‘heartlessly’ at the victim

Before setting bail, Judge Brad Myers said he watched a video showing the suspects laughing “heartlessly” at Madison Brooks as she mouthed the words in the car where her alleged rape took place, VAFB9 reported. However, he said the video did not show the alleged attack.

The video was taken by one of the suspects.

The judge said he also viewed video taken at Reggie’s Bar, where Madison met her alleged attackers, which is said to show her tripping, falling and needing help. Madison’s state of mind and her ability to consent to sex are at the heart of the case.
